Service Times:  Sundays 10:00am-11:30am (pre-service corporate prayer meeting 9:30am)

Planted the Fall of 2017

Encounter is the local church expression of the Underground House of Prayer.

Our 3-part vision is to:  Encounter God, pray for revival and transform lives.

Within the larger City-Wide ministry of UHOP is a church family that is focused on impacting the region through prayer and outreach.  We support the house of prayer vision by giving financially and by giving our time and energy to fuel the prayer room in partnership with other Churches.  It is our desire to cultivate a context for people to find friendship and ministry function around the vision of the house of prayer.  The Sunday services are only a small expression of our Church life because most of our time is given to fueling the prayer room as intercessors, training, small groups, and outreach.

These service times are open to anybody and include worship, teaching, small groups, and ministry times.  These services are geared towards fueling believers in intimacy with God, prayer, godly relationships, and supernatural ministry

Small Groups

We also have small groups that gather every other week to study the Word together, pray for each other and reach out to the community together.

Times/Days:  Small Groups are on pause for the summer but will resume in the fall of 2020.

Email encounterchurch@uhopsf.com if you are interested in joining a group or would like to contact a group leader.

Children’s Discipleship

Kids 9 months-8 years of age are welcome to receive care and children’s training after worship, while the adults are receiving teaching.  We have a strong value for partnering with parents to see kids experience the love of God, learn how to pray, sing, and see God’s supernatural power released through them.  Kids will have times of singing, learning simple instruments, prayer, crafts, Bible story time, and ministry times each service.

Children can check in for Kids Church right after worship ends.  9 month-2 year olds will be in the nursery and will have play times as well as normal learning activities.  3-5 year olds and then 6-8 year olds will be in their own classrooms.

Because we are a growing Church we do not have older childhood training after 8 years old or a youth group.  We look forward to establishing these ministries in the near future as more families join our community.

A normal schedule is:

10:00am-10:30am   Live worship

10:35am-11:15am – Bible teaching

11:15am-11:30am – Ministry Time (pray for one another in response to the message, small group discussion or corporate prayer)

Values

1st Commandment Love for God

We call people to love God with all of their hearts, souls, mind, and strength.  This means coming into agreement with God’s ways of love in every area of our lives.  We call people to love God through wholehearted obedience to His ways and believe this is an offering of love to Him.  We also believe that the place of holiness is the place of true joy and love.  Believers will experience more of God’s presence as we get free from areas of sin and believers will display more love to those around them as they come into agreement with God in obedience.

2nd Commandment Love for People

We promote strong and godly relationships between believers and unbelievers.  We challenge believers to intentionally pour into younger believers and to form friendships that are spiritually encouraging and challenging.  We also challenge believers to love all those around them through serving and encouraging.

Support the UHOP City Vision

We exist to fully support the city-wide vision of the Underground House of Prayer.  Our focus and ministry expression will be through the prayer room and other UHOP ministries.  The vast majority of our efforts as a Church will be to help fuel and strengthen the prayer room.   100% our tithes and offerings go towards the city-wide vision of UHOP.

Corporate prayer

Prayer is central to our individual lives in God and to our corporate life in God because all life comes from interacting with Him.  All believers are called to have deep prayer lives and all Christian communities are called to engage in corporate prayer for the lost but we feel called to exemplify and emphasize corporate prayer as a Church.  Prayer does not take the place of loving and serving people, it fuels us and directs us in those activities and causes our good works to multiply in effectiveness.

Missions

We are a missions minded prayer community that is hungry to see the lost come to know Jesus in personal and transforming ways, both locally and abroad.  Praying for salvation is one of our main prayer points all throughout the week.  We become part of the answer to our prayers by intentionally sharing the Gospel as individuals and reaching out to the lost as a Church.  We financially support missions locally and abroad.

Equipping

We train believers of all ages to walk in deep lives of prayer, operate in the gifts of the Spirit, and discover God’s mission field for their lives.
